According to the Prescribing Information, the DISKUS delivers your dose of medicine as a very fine powder that you may or may not taste or feel. Please perform the following steps which should demonstrate whether or not powder is delivered with a dose

  1. Using the thumb grip, open the cover so you see the mouthpiece and lever
  2. With the mouthpiece facing down, tap the diskus firmly several times onto a hard, dark surface to remove residual powder, if any, from the inside of the device
  3. Then push the lever back until you see the dose counter decrease by one number and hear a click in order to release a new dose
  4. Again, with the mouthpiece facing down, tap the diskus firmly several times onto a clean area on a hard, dark surface
  5. A small amount of fine, white powder should come out of the device which indicates that powder was present in the dose
  6. Safely discard the powder once test completed
